Horseshoe Cove SUP
Horseshoe Cove SUP
Ideal conditions for your Nova Scotia paddle
This Nova Scotia paddle board tour is ideal for anyone who wants to stand-up paddle on the ocean as Horseshoe Cove is protected from the southwesterly summer winds. Yet there is always a very gentle ocean swell. Thus it provides perfect conditions for ocean lovers who would like to try out something new or practice this fun water sport in a real wilderness environment. At such, a seal might pop its head out of the water curiously, or majestic eagles and peregrine falcons soar above the rugged cliffs. To top this guided tour off, we will paddle through a natural arch and enjoy the serenity of this gorgeous cove. Read more…

Explore the serene Fundy cliffs on this Nova Scotia paddle!
Try out an exciting new way to be on the ocean – on a stand-up paddle board! It is so much fun to paddle as you can sit, kneel, stand or even lie down and chill on your paddle board. The inflatable boards are light and stable, and should you fall, quite bouncy and forgiving. Depending on your abilities, we will start the tour sitting or kneeling to get familiar with the paddle boards. Then we will try and stand up – with an experienced instructor right by our side. We can go back to a seated position any time. Families with younger kids (or anyone, really) can double up on their paddle boards.
Highlights include paddling through an arch at the world’s highest tide and viewing the stunning Fundy cliffs. As we enjoy the serenity of this remote part of Nova Scotia, sometimes an eagle in flight blesses us, or a seal pops up. While we stay mainly in Horseshoe Cove, if conditions allow – and paddlers are up for it – we can peek around the corner and see the operating Lighthouse on Cape d’Or from the water. In 1604, French explorer Samuel Champlain mistook the glare in the cliffs at sunset for Gold and named them Cap d’Or – the Cape of Gold. Three centuries later, copper was mined here briefly. Today, beachcombers come here to look for agate, and you can do the same after we serve some refreshments on the beach.
Horseshoe Cove is a secluded cove located on Cape d’Or, a 20-min drive from our office in Advocate Harbour, Nova Scotia. Its location shelters it from the summer winds that can make the waters choppy on our more exposed day tour.
